Clara Brewer

Clara Marie Buckles Brewer, 63, passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 at her home in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 13 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in the Hawley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 PM on Sunday at Elmwood Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brewer was born on December 10, 1945 in Ranger and was given the nick name of Buckles by her father when she was a very little girl. She grew up in Ranger and married Neal Brewer in Abilene on February 28, 1966. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her life. She loved having her family around her and her grandchildren could always count on their MeMe to be their number one fan whether they were involved in sporting events, school programs or even if she was just stopping by the school to have lunch with them.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Neal Brewer of Abilene; her son, Daniel Brewer of Hawley; two daughters, Rebecca Smith and husband Nick of Pritchett, and Sarah Walker Stroope and Darrin of Abilene; 8 grandchildren, Jody Rhodes, Michael Hollis, Daniel Brewer Jr., Justin Smith, Dawn Neal Walker, Chandler Smith, Maci Brewer and Alison Brewer; 4 sisters, Ethel Crawford, Cora Mae Walton, Darlene Boggs and Evelyn Fletcher; 3 brothers, John David, Robert and Roger McGough; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her parents, Roy McGough and Flora Edna Parent McGough and 2 brothers, Melvin Penny and Roy Lee McGough preceded her in death.
