Clarence Earl Lewis, 78, died Monday, February 25, 2008 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, February 27th in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park, Garden of Remembrance. Viewing will be come and go between the hours of 8:30 AM and 8:00 PM on Tuesday at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewis was born on January 9, 1930 in Strafford, Oklahoma the son of Earl and Eunice Miller Lewis. He served in the US Army from 1951 to 1953 and married Marilyn Newlands in Lubbock, Texas on August 14, 1954. He came to Abilene in 1979 where he owned and operated Toledo Scales until his retirement in 1983. After retirement, he spent 21 years ranching in Cisco. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and keeping track of his herd.
Survivors include his children, Sherrie Deuvall and husband Edward of Moore, Oklahoma, and Donald Lewis of Abilene; grandchildren, Melissa Nowlin and husband Steven of Moore, Oklahoma, Haley and Mackenzie Lewis of Odessa; great granddaughter, Gracen Nowlin of Moore, Oklahoma, two sisters, Suzie Shannon of Quitaque and Geneva Smith of Lubbock; and one brother, Raymond Lewis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1981, his parents, two brothers, Carl Dee Lewis and James Hop Lewis; and one sister, Mae Baird.
