Clarence Lester Buddy Shirley, 83, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 in Abilene. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 27 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 7:00 to 9:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Buddy was born in Ft. Worth on November 2, 1927 the son of Will Shirley and Edna Kinnard Shirley. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and later married Juanita Ellis Schanbacher on September 5, 1952. Buddy worked as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal service for 33 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Letter Carriers Association and he was a Mason. Buddy had a strong faith in God and was an active member of the First Church of the Nazarene where he attended the Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class and was active with the Primetimers.

Survivors include his loving wife, Juanita Nita Shirley of Abilene two sons, Michael Schanbacher and wife Connie of Arlington, and Jimmy D. Schanbacher of Abilene one sister, Rosemary Horton of Abilene 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 2 greatgreat grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations are suggested to DARSDivision For Blind Services, 4601 S. 1st, STE M, Abilene, TX 79605.
