Clarence Edward Sneed, 80, of Abilene was promoted to glory on January 6, 2013, at 5:45 PM and lies in the arms of Jesus today. Clarence died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
Clarence was born on May 24, 1932 in Parker County. He joined the United States Navy in 1949 and served during the Korean War until June of 1953. Even though Clarence did not retire as a military man, he was very proud of his years of service to his country. He moved to Abilene in 1953 where he met his soul mate and love of his life, Jeannie Ballard, they were married on May 4, 1957. They went about the business of raising their children and enjoying life together. Clarence drove a truck for Merchants Motor Lines for 29 years before retiring to his home in Elmdale.
Clarence was an excellent mirror of Jesus Christ to his family as well as to anyone who knew him. He was the spiritual leader of his home under Jesus Christ, which made him an excellent husband and father. We rest assured that when Jesus met him at the gates of glory he heard what we all long to hear from the Master, Well done my good and faithful servant.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Sarah Bennett Sneed and father, Frank Clayton Sneed and eight brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jeannie Sneed two children, Triana Cook and Terrell Sneed both of Abilene four grandchildren, Christopher Sneed and his wife Sarah of Flower Mound, Jenny Sneed Thomas and her husband Justin of Pflugerville, Whitney Sneed Campbell and her husband Jacob of Merkel, and Sunny Sneed of Merkel 7 greatgrandchildren, Lista Sneed, Kaleb Campbell, Kamarhi Sneed, Connor Sneed, Madison Campbell, Lily Sneed, and Jolee Thomas one brother, Fred Sneed and his wife Georgia of Baytown a beloved brotherinlaw, Don Ballard and wife Elaine of Abilene one special nephew, raised as a brother, Raymond Earnest Neal Jr. of Dayton and many, many more beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Clarence and the family will be from 5:00 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Elmwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 10. 2013, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel burial to follow in the Garden of the Gospels at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Sneed, Justin Thomas, Jacob Campbell, Don Ballard, Riley Ewing.
