Clarence passed away peacefully the early morning of February 11, 2013 at The Haven in Kerrville, TX at the age of 94. Born on October 16, 1918 in Taylor County, his parting was preceded by his parents, John and Lenore Thornton his 9 siblings and wife Betty.
He served in the South Pacific in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return home he continued to farm and operate a dairy. He retired from the Abilene Fire Department after 22 years. He was ordained as a Baptist deacon at Caps Baptist Church near the farm. He and Betty were charter members of Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo. Clarence had a good and blessed life. He enjoyed living in the Hill Country.
Survivors include his daughter, Barbara Wynne and soninlaw, Jim of Kingsland, TX brotherinlaw, Tommy Bailey and wife Betty of Llano, TX sisterinlaw, Eulla Rae Bailey of Abilene, TX several nieces and nephews three grandchildren, Tamela Pierce of San Angelo, TX, Melody Wynne of Burnet, TX, Deidra Wynne of Georgetown, TX three greatgrandchildren, Trisha Meyer, Sabra Baykin, Johnathan Quenichet six greatgreat grandchildren, Serena, Christopher, Kaliyah, Mela, Gaige and Garren.
Our thankyous go to the South Texas Veterans Health Care System Kerrville Division, to Dr. Michael Martin and his staff, to the loving caregivers and many friends at the Haven in the Texas Hill Country and Peterson Hospice of Kerrville, Texas, and thank you, God, for In Thy Presence is Fullness of Joy Psalm 16:11
Graveside celebration will be 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 13, 2012 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
