Mrs. Claudine Cook Ibbotson passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Hendrick Medical Center. Her Graveside service will be 2:00 PM on Monday, April 13, 2009 at Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Claudine was born December 2, 1928 in Greenville, TX to James and Lucy Cook. She graduated from Greenville High School in 1945, and as a young woman was known for her musical talents. On December 18, 1949 she married David F. Ibbotson and they enjoyed 53 wonderful years of marriage. Claudine and David moved to Abilene when he was transferred to Dyess Air Force Base in 1955. Up until her retirement she worked for Merchants Van Lines as a receptionist.
Claudine was preceded in death by her husband David F. Ibbotson, her parents James F. and Lucy Cook, and one sister Dora Matthews.
Claudine is survived by her son Timothy Ibbotson of Abilene, TX; and one niece Ann Vaught of Indianapolis, Indiana.
She will be fondly remembered and sorely missed by her life-long friends for her loyalty and unfailing sense of humor; Mrs. Celia Harwell and her family, Frances Dean and her husband Marion D. VonRoeder, and Wendy and David Havner of Abilene, TX, Deborah Dean and Michael DeSando of Fredrick, MD.
The family would like to extend special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Kathryn Norton for her skill and caring for Claudine during her long illness.
