Connie Cullum Dawley joined her Heavenly Father and a host of family members on October 1, 2013. Connies life was marked by her strong faith in God, love for her family and friends, and service to St. Paul United Methodist Church and the community of Abilene.
Born on June 18th, 1949, in Wichita Falls, Texas, Connie was the daughter of James Anderson Cullum and Barbara Wheeler Cullum. She was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School in 1967. Connie then completed her education at the University of Texas, where she received her B.S in Education in 1971. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
Connie and Jim Dawley were married on March 2nd, 1985. They celebrated 28 years of life together in Abilene. At St. Paul United Methodist Church, Connies faith was enriched by completing the four year Disciple Bible Study. In addition, she also served on the Church Leadership Council with her husband, Jim. As a faithful community servant, Connie served on the PTA Boards of both Austin Elementary School and Madison Middle School. She was a member of the Junior League of Abilene and the Abilene PanHellenic Association. Connie also completed training to be certified as a Hendrick Hospice Care volunteer.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Barbara and Jimmy Cullum. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim Dawley of Abilene her devoted son and daughterinlaw, Cullum and Kris Jefferies of Dallas her sister and brother in law, Carol and Johnny Triesch of San Antonio her brother and sisterinlaw, Jim and Kelley Cullum of Wichita Falls her motherinlaw, Margie Dawley of Abilene Connie is also survived by her three precious grandsons Sloan, Craighton, and Fulton Jefferies of Dallas, who affectionately called her Kaki.
There will be a memorial service celebrating Connies life at 1:30, Friday, October 4th, at 1:30 P.M. at St Paul United Methodist Church, 525 Beech Street, Abilene, Texas. Following the services there will be a reception for family and friends from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at the Abilene County Club, 4039 South Treadaway, Abilene, Texas 79602.
