Curtis Caffey

Curtis Fletcher Caffey passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in Abilene, Texas. Due to restrictions in place because of COVID-19 virus there is limited occupancy for both visitation and funeral services. A graveside service will be 8:30 AM, Friday, May 22, 2020 in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 hwy 277 south, if you would like to listen to the funeral from your car in the cemetery you may tune to 105.7 FM for the funeral broadcast. A visitation will be 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, May 21, 2020 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 hwy 277 south.

Curtis was born December 18, 1932 in Anson, Texas to his parents, Hyram Turner and Lillie Pearl McNabb Caffey. As a young man he loved to fish, hunt, and play baseball. He married the love of his life, Dorothy “Dot” Caffey on May 15, 1954 and was blessed with 65 years of marriage until her recent passing on October 12, 2019. Curtis was a musician all of his life. He had his own band for 40 years. At one point his band was Curtis Caffey and The Jubilee Boys and in 1982 it changed to C.C. Express. Curtis owned and played at Stage Coach Inn in Stamford, Texas from 1967 to 1982 and also played numerous locations within The Big Country. To say he loved music would be an understatement. Curtis was a member of the First Baptist Church in Abilene. Above all Curtis loved his family with his whole heart and put them first in all aspects of his life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hyram Turner and Lillie Pearl Caffey; siblings, H.T. Caffey, Thelma Womack, George Caffey, Ava Lee Mize, C.B Caffey, Hiram Caffey, Burt Caffey, and Pauline Sosebee.

Curtis is survived by his children, two daughters: Rhonda Boyd (David), Nancy Lozano; two sons: David Caffey (Evynne), Mark Caffey (Laura); ten grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth McLen (Frank), Daniel Boyd (Jessica), Stephen Lozano (Mattie), Kindrah Miller (Seth), Joshua Caffey (Dora), Kandice Caffey, Jacob Caffey, Madeleine Caffey (Jess Swindell), Emiline Caffey; eight great grandchildren: Payton Dickson, Sunny Miller, Isabella Boyd, Sage Miller, Kalli Rose Miller, Samuel David Caffey, Journey Grace Nicholson, Curtis James Caffey; siblings,Lou Alice DeAlba, Patsy Bledsoe, and Talmadge Caffey; sisters-in-law, Sue Munson, Beverly Munson, Theresa Munson, and Pat Smith; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
