Cynthia "Cindy" Louise (Correu) Schkade

Cynthia "Cindy" Louise (Correu) Schkade died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, June 27, 2024. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 2, 1958, the fourth of six children born to Freddie Lee Martin and James Marshall Correu. On August 20, 1983, Cindy married Brent Dale Schkade. They made their home in Abilene, Texas, and raised one daughter, Kristi.

Cindy was a loving wife and mother. She was highly creative, musically talented, and loved to travel. Cindy also enjoyed gardening and cooking. She loved nothing more than cooking a meal for friends and family and gathering them all together for a celebration. Cindy was kind and generous, going out of her way to help anyone in any way she could.

Cindy was predeceased by both of her parents, Freddie Lee Martin and James "Jimmy" Correu, and her eldest brother, James Miles Correu.

Survivors include Cindy's husband, Brent (Abilene, TX); daughter, Kristi (Plymouth, MA); brother, Marshall Correu and wife Mildred (The Philippines); sister, Beth Upshaw (Abilene, TX); brother, Marvin Correu (Clyde, TX); sister, Julie Correu (Abilene, TX); sister-in-law, Sharron Correu (Divide, CO); sister-in-law, Sandra (Schkade) Storey and husband, Jerry; numerous dearly loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, and a few close friends whom she thought of as family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Debt Reduction Fund (2801 Antilley Rd. Abilene, TX 79606), the Christian Service Center (3185 N. 10th St. Abilene, TX 79603), or the charity of your choice.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 2801 Antilley Rd, Abilene, Texas.
