Dale M. Carlson passed away Wednesday February 1, 2012 in Abilene 10 days shy of his 91st birthday. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South. A private family graveside will be held on Saturday.
Dale was born on February 11, 1921 in Andalusia, Illinois the son of Charles S. Carlson and Bessie May Wilkens Carlson. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII where he received a Purple Heart after being wounded in France when the jeep he was traveling in ran over a land mine. He met the love of his life Flora Mae Pollard of Breckenridge while stationed at Camp Barkley and they were married in 1945. Dale was a talented Brick Mason and still loved to drive by to check on some of the work he was proudest of including the rocks on the front of the Abilene Reporter News building, the court house in Snyder and the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest just to name a few. He was a member of the Brick Layers Union where he had served as President. After retirement, Dale enjoyed traveling, being active at the Rose Park Senior Center and being generous of his time and resources to help his family in any way he could.
Survivors include his children, Jeri Seals and husband Otis of Abilene and Ronnie Carlson and wife Zoe of Tuscola 4 grandchildren, Charlie Seals and wife Lynda, Sissy Jones and husband David, Chelsey Carlson and Levi Carlson and wife Lindsey 8 great grandchildren, James Dale Seals and wife Jennifer, Brandi Lange and husband Justin, Josh Jones, Josie Jones, Kaila Nickel and husband Mark, Grayson Gabriel and Reagan Gabriel, 4 greatgreat grandchildren, Addy Lange, Braydon Seals, Kloie Lange and Elise Childers and a special grand dog, Mocha.
His parents, his wife, Flora and his brother, Kenny Carlson preceded him in death.
