Dale Smith

Dale L. Smith, 80, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6 till 8 PM, on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Graveside funeral service will be 4:00 PM, on Monday, April 11, 2011 at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Dale was born October 9, 1931 in Port Orchard, WA to Ben and Bertha Bell Smith. He attended high school at Kitsap High School in Port Orchard. He joined the Army Air Corp in 1946 to serve his country. During his 27 year career in the Air Force he was stationed in Taiwan, Korea, Germany, England and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After his retirement from the United States Air Force in 1973 he worked for Train Heating and Air, Montgomery Ward and First National Bank in the collections department. Dale loved to play golf and always made sure he had his clubs with him everywhere he went. While everyone else was loading cargo for the mission Dale could be found finding a safe travelling spot for his golf clubs. He loved to watch the Cowboy football games and the Rangers baseball games. He loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all of them.
Dale is survived by his wife, Joyce two sons, Anthony Smith and wife Therese of Abilene, and Carl Smith and Wife Nichole of Jacksonville, NC six grandchildren, Jonathon Spencer, Drew Spencer, William Spencer, Joseph Smith, Ben Smith and Alex Smith and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
