David Mcleod

David was born July 1, 1957, to Wanda and Garth McLeod in Abilene, Tx. He attended school in Abilene beginning with Austin Elementary then Madison Jr. High and graduated from Cooper High School. He completed a course with Tippett Gee as a draftsman. David began working for the U. S. Postal Service when he was nineteen years old. He later transferred to Arlington where he was a timekeeper for the postal service for fourteen years and attended the University of Texas at Arlington for three and a half years. He later transferred back to Abilene and was to retire from the postal service on December 31, after 30 years of service.

David loved the simple things in life. One of his favorite things was to wake up on a cold morning, look out his window, see the frost on the fields and trees, and think how blessed he was to be inside where it was warm and toasty, as he would say. Spending time at his brothers farm for his big barbecue cookout was something he loved to do; he always said it was the best barbecue ever.

David had a very strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved talking to family and friends about the Bible. He studied his Bible, always obtaining more knowledge and learning every day. His happiest moments were when he was helping someone who was having a problem. He would pray for them and then contact an evangelist in Denver and have him pray for them also.

David was a big man; he stood 6ft. 7in. tall and had a heart as big as he was. He would see a person on the street who needed help and he would give them a ride or money or whatever it took to help them.

We love him and already miss him so much our hearts are aching. He died unexpectedly Sunday, December 21, of a heart attack. The only things that are sustaining his family at this time is knowing of his love of his Savior and that he is with Him now.

Survivors include his parents, his brother Barry and wife Julie, their children Matt and Morgan, his sister Sharon and her husband Greg, their children Suzie, Katie, and Kellie, and his sister Michel McLeod of Roswell New Mexico, and his loyal and best friend Squeaker his faithful little dog.

At Davids request a graveside service will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
