Dennis Henry Bluhm was welcomed home to heaven on September 26, 2012 in Abilene, TX. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 7:00 PM on Friday, September 28, 2012, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Beltway Park Baptist Church, 4009 Beltway South, Abilene, Texas. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park, in the Garden of Hope.
He was the oldest son of Henry and Mildred Mueller Bluhm, born October 4, 1937 in Wausau, WI. He graduated from Spencer High School, Spencer, WI in 1956. He joined and honorably served in the US Air Force and was stationed at Cannon Air Force Base, Clovis, NM. He was a decorated member of the Machbusters Club.
He married Mary Ann Bryant August 27, 1960 in Portales, NM, then moved to Marshfield, WI. Afterwards, they moved to Johnson, KS where he worked on a farm for several years. During that time, he accepted Christ as his Savior and became a devoted follower of His. He taught, served as a deacon, and was a song leader at Faith Baptist Church in Johnson, KS.
While in Kansas he worked for Stanton County in the Road Department and as Deputy County Tax Assessor. He also served as the county noxious weed control director and was elected state president of the Kansas Department of Agriculture County Weed Directors.
He Mary Ann moved to Amarillo in 1986 where he served the Lord at San Jacinto Christian Academy Southwest Baptist Church. They moved to Abilene in 1997 to be near their sons.
Dennis was a very talented man who could do most anything. He loved woodworking and building projects. He was a loving husband, Dad and Grandpa.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, two sons, Tim and wife Kerri and Brian and wife Sherry all of Buffalo Gap 9 grandchildren: Elisha Lafe Sargent of Hickory Creek, TX Tiffany Smith Stabile of Flower Mound, TX Seth Bluhm of Plano, TX Zach Kalli Bluhm of Russellville, AR Conagher, Garrison, and Lincoln Bluhm of Buffalo Gap and 3 great grandchildren: Gracie Joley Kesslyn a brother: Jerry Bluhm and wife Sharon of Stratford, WI a sister: Sharon Bauer and husband Don of Nekoosa, WI and sistersinlaw: Sharon Dimmit, Audrey Bluhm, Clara Schiller and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers: Donny, Delmar, Dale, Jim and two nephews: Michael and Richard.
We express our deepest gratitude to the staff of Windcrest Alzheimer Center, Northern Oaks Nursing Center, and Hendrick Hospice for their loving care during his illness.
Dennis was a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Abilene, TX the family requests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the HBC Missions Fund, 1389 Vine St., Abilene, TX 79602.
