Diedrich Dickey Waxler, 78, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, January 3, 2011. His funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 6, 2011 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South officiated by Reverend Thomas Bruce. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Dickey was born on November 7, 1932 in Seguin, TX and attended school at the Butterfield School south of Abilene. He married the love of his life, Barbara Raiford, on December 21, 1951 in Abilene. He began working as a painting contractor and later owned and operated Trico Painting for 14 years with his son before receiving his dealers license and spending several years working as an automobile dealer.
He was a member of the First Foursquare Church for many years and was always proud of the fact that his family was raised in church. He enjoyed spending time working in the church, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Dickey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara three children, Stacy Rostvold and husband Steve of Abilene, Dennie Waxler and wife Teri of Temple, Tammy Snow of Abilene six grandchildren, Steve Henderson, Hannah Rostvold, Cody Waxler, Courtney Waxler, Heather Snow, Holly Snow five great grandchildren, Brittany, Lucas, Presley, Lexie, Brodie two sisters, Charlene Ashby of View, Leona Davis of Tye several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
