Dolores Johns

Dolores Speegle Johns, age 84, went home to be with our Father on January 6, 2012. Chapel services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. She spent her final days at Windcrest Alzheimers Center.

Dolores was born on October 23, 1927 in Murray, KY to Inez and Verble Taylor. She is survived by her husband, David Pete Johns, her children, Carolyn Gibson and Michael Speegle, her sister, Ilene and spouse, T.O., her grandchildren, Tammy and spouse, Eddie, Shannon and spouse, Michael, and Shane and spouse, Kim, and 6 greatgrandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Jack Speegle.

Dolores resided in Abilene for 38 years and retired from West Texas Utilities in 1989. She was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ.

Dolores loved to travel and especially enjoyed spending time in her cabin in Ruidoso, NM. She loved her family who is left with many wonderful memories of her laughing until she cried and crying every time they said goodbye. Dolores filled their stomachs with delicious food, their ears with joyful laughter and their hearts with lasting love. She will be missed and remembered.
