Donald G Gann, 84, passed away Friday, November 7, 2014 in Hawley. Visitation will be 3:00 till 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 10, 2014 at Hawley Church of Christ, 410 4th St, Hawley, TX. Interment will follow the service in the Hawley Cemetery.
Don was born June 29, 1930 in Lampasas, TX to parents, Elmore and Beulah Story Gann. He married Evelyn Mae Long in 1966 in California. Shortly after they were married the family moved back to Texas. He was a very hard working man and could accomplish anything he set his mind to. He owned and operated Ganns Radiator in Sweetwater for many years and was a minister at Normandy Ave Church of Christ. They have been residents of Hawley for many years where he has been a faithful member of the Hawley Church of Christ.
Don was a strong role model for his friends and family, always leading by example. He was a great listener and always had time to help with others problems. He enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. His greatest joy on this earth was his family. Spending time with them and playing with the grandchildren was always a priority for him. He had a motto that bound his family together throughout the years Blood is Thicker Than Water but Love is Thicker Than Blood. He will be missed by all those that had the privilege of knowing him and experiencing that love.
Don is survived by his wife, Evelyn three sons, Sidney Gann and wife Teresa, Terry Long and wife Edie, Jason Gann and wife Dianna eight daughters, Marie Jones, Lana Williams, Cynthia Besecker and husband K.B., Judy Critz and husband Dale, Norma Joy Smart and husband Danny, Lisa Seals and husband Joe, Karla Knight, Becky Gann and husband Jeff Farquhar thirtyfour grandchildren numerous greatgrandchildren one sister, Ruth Daughtery one brother, Daymond Gann and wife Wanda and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren four greatgrandchildren four siblings, Jack Gann, Gayle Gann, Snooks Gann, Nell Hall and his parents.
