Donna A. Gordon, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on July 18, 2023. A visitation will be held on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 11:00am.
Donna was born on September 24, 1942, in Baird, Texas, to Alvin Walter and Iva Lorene O'Dell.
Donna pursued her education at American Commercial College, where she studied business. She embarked on a fulfilling career as a church secretary at Village Meadows Baptist Church in Sierra Vista AZ for 7 years and Crescent Heights Baptist Church here in Abilene for 23 years. She dedicated her life to the service of her community and her faith.
Donna's warm and loving nature touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She had an infectious smile that could brighten any room and a heart full of compassion. Donna's greatest joy in life came from her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. Their laughter and presence brought immense happiness to her days.
In her free time, Donna indulged in her hobbies of reading, crafting, and sewing. She found solace and joy in the worlds she discovered through books and the creative outlet that sewing and crafting provided. Donna also had a deep love for nature and enjoyed going on family trips and camping adventures, creating memories that will be treasured by her loved ones for generations to come.
Donna A. Gordon is survived by her beloved husband, Larry Gordon, who stood by her side through thick and thin. She leaves behind her son, Russell Gordon; daughter, Phaedra Davis, and her husband Brian. Donna's memory will forever be cherished by her grandchildren, Bryanna Beverlin and her husband Tyler, Dustin Gordon and his wife Kyla, Branson Davis, and Sydney Gordon. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Isabella Gordon, Sophia Gordon, and another precious one on the way. She is also survived by her brother Alvin O'Dell and his wife Linda.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents.
Although she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
