Donna Harris

Donna Harris, 84, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022 in Abilene, Texas. A graveside memorial service will be 11:00 AM ,Saturday, September 10, 2022 in Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Donna was born on June 29, 1938 in Torrance, California to Art and Madeleine Reekers. In 1956 Donna graduated from Narbonne High School as Valedictorian. She married Douglas Harris on May 27, 1956 in Lomita, California. She worked for the county of Las Angeles for over 35 years. After retirement she and Douglas moved to Abilene to unite with family and soon Abilene became their home. During their retirement they traveled many places including the mountains of California that she loved dearly. She had a passion for quilting, researching the family genealogy and absolutely adored dogs. Donna Harris was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend that will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Douglas Harris on June 6, 2016; her parents, Art and Madeleine Reekers; and her sister, Sharon Reekers.

Donna is survived by two children, Debbie Sierra of Odessa, Texas, and Douglas Michael Harris of California; three grandchildren, Joe Sierra of Merkel, Texas, Nicole Berardi of Washington, and Andrew Sierra of Abilene, Texas; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way, Sydney, Troy, Eli, Sebastian, Joey, Theodore, and Jasmine.

In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in Donna's honor to the Dementia Society of America.
