Donna Hockman

Donna Rae Hockman, 60, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Abilene. Her graveside funeral service will be 2:00 PM on Friday October 24, 2008 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South with Reverend Joel Tobey officiating.

Donna was born November 3, 1947 in Oxnard, California to Herman and Lois Tankersley. After growing up in California she spent time in Arizona and Okinawa, Japan before settling in Abilene in 1980. She never met a stranger, and always had an open door policy at her house to everyone. She was a true animal lover, always taking in and feeding the animals that came along. She enjoyed spending time working in her yard taking care of the rose bushes and when it came to remodeling the house, she was always ready for a good demolition project.

Donna is survived by one son, Korey Schumacher and wife Cindy of Abilene; one daughter, Mena Whitt and husband Shane of Haskell; her best friend and partner in crime, Diana Dennis.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Rescue the Animals SPCA, 5933 S 1st St., Abilene, TX 79605
