Doris Batko

Doris Jean Batko, 83, died peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2008, at Myrtlewood Estates.BRBRViewing and visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.BRBRFuneral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Holy Family Catholic Church with burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park.BRBRDoris was born on December 1, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Agnes Potter. She married the love of her life, Edward L. Batko on September 14, 1945. They had five children. Doris spent her younger years as a homemaker, raising her children.BRBRDoris and Ed loved to go dancing. Doris and Ed lived in Abilene for 45 years where they have many friends. Doris was a loving wife, devoted mother, and a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and a great grandmother to 3 great grandchildren. Doris was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church and while in Abilene was a member of Sacred Heart and Holy Family.BRBRSurvivors include four sons, Dan Batko and wife Diane of San Angelo; Steve Batko and wife Marie of Abilene; Ed Batko Jr. and wife Kathy of Arlington and John Batko of Abilene; one daughter, D'Anne Trupkin and husband Steve of Wantagh, New York; ten grandchildren, Kendall Williams and husband Josh, Justin Batko, Jason and Adam Trupkin, Emily Clement and her husband Jeff, Ross Batko, Trey Ortiz, Karrah, Elijah and Samuel Batko; four great grandchildren, and her niece, Judy Kelly of Chicago.BRBRShe was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, her parents, Charles and Agnes Potter, her sister, Laura Gajewski, and brother George Potter.BRBRThe family would like to extend a special thanks to the employees of Myrtlewood Special Care unit for all their loving care.
