Doris Blair

Doris Margaret Moll Blair, 82, passed away on January 9, 2017. Visitation will be Monday, January 16 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 S. Services will be held on Tuesday January 17 at 10:00 a.m. in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel with a burial following in Elmwood Memorial Park.

She was born at her home in Moorhead, MN to Merton Gerald and Anna Edith Severson Moll on April 6, 1934. She graduated from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo, ND in 1952. She met the love of her life, Bernard "Barney" Blair, while working for Western Union in Rapid City, SD. He and Doris married on June 1, 1953 in Albuquerque, NM where Barney was stationed while serving in the United States Air Force. Doris followed her husband base to base, making a home for her husband and their three children. They have lived in New Mexico, Minnesota, Germany, and Texas. Barney retired from the Air Force in 1973 at Dyess Air Force Base, having served 22 years.

They retired to Abilene, Texas and Doris worked at the state school as did her husband. She was a home maker, she was an avid reader and enjoyed making clothes for her family. She also enjoyed crafts.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Blair; her parents Merton and Edith Moll; a daughter, Barbara Ann Blair; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Robert Glass.

She is survived by her sons, Bruce Blair and Michael Blair all of Abilene. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Anthony Blair, William Foster, and Gavin Smith of Lubbock. three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ron Moll and wife Adele of Bismarck, ND; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
