Doris Thacker

Doris Lucile Rister Thacker, 85, of Abilene, Tx, passed away Tuesday November 28, 2017. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2017 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. A funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 2, 2017 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

Doris was born December 1, 1931 to Ed and Ann Rister in Coleman Texas and was one of ten children. She married Frank Thacker on June 1, 1969 and enjoyed golfing and bowling with him. She waitressed many years of her life and loved to serve people in this way. Above all she loved her children, grandchildren and especially her great grandchildren. She will be dearly missed and will be in our hearts forever.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Ann Rister; and her daughter, Patricia Harrelson.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Thacker; her son, Dan Kennedy and his wife Deann; her daughter, Debi Ballard; six grandchildren, Brian Harrelson, Kevin Harrelson, Jason Harrelson, Danny Kennedy Jr., Courtney Ballard, and Chelsea Ballard; eight great grandchildren, Cheyenne Fraser, Dakota Fraser, Madison West, Bailey West, Emily Kennedy, Kaylee Harrelson, Kassidy Harrelson, and Brooklyn Harrelson; two sisters, Geraldine Terry and Barbara Rains; and one brother, Bill Rister.
