Our loving mother Dorothy Lucille Colwell, passed away Monday March 17, 2008 in Midland, Texas. Lucille was born to William Arthur Paul and Lola Belle Huffman Paul on February 28, 1926 in Brownwood, Texas.
In February 1944, during World War II, Lucille went by train from Abilene, Texas to Florida and married Billy Avery Colwell on February 5. Bill preceded her in death on March 25, 1994. To their union four children were born.
Lucille was a homemaker and a wonderful cook. She loved to work in the yard and always had beautiful flowers and plants. Another hobby was crocheting keepsake blankets for her great grandchildren. All who knew Lucille will attest to her sweet spirit and kind heart.
Lucille was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene just having returned her membership there from Tulsa on March 16, 2008.
Her daughter Lu Ann Colwell Baker preceded her in death in July 1982.
Left to cherish her memory are sons Dan Colwell and wife Jennifer of Midland, Texas, Ron Colwell of Tulsa, Oklahoma with whom she had made her home for the last 10 years, Jerry Colwell and wife Sharon of Converse, Texas; a sister Peggy Hardee of Gueydan, Louisiana, a brother W. A. Bill Paul and wife Sarah of Abilene; 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Midland, Inc., 911 West Texas, Midland, Texas 79701 or to the charity of ones choice.
Her graveside service will be Saturday March 22, 2008, 11:00 AM, at Elmwood Memorial Park with the Reverend Mike Woodward of Southwest Park Baptist Church officiating. Viewing and visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
