Dorothy Grimm

June 23, 1937 — February 2, 2022

Wednesday morning, February 2, 2022, 84-year-old Dorothy Faye (Allison) Grimm, escaped the shackles of her earthly body to be with her heavenly Lord and Savior. She now joins her dear husband Floyd in the heavenly realm to continue their journey together.

Dorothy was born June 23, 1937, to Thurman Burtram and Gladys Lucille (Cox) Allison, in McGregor, Texas. She married Floyd Rich Grimm on June 28, 1958. They settled in Abilene, raising three children: Ken, Sheri, and Gary. Dorothy was a devoted stay at home mom for many years, dedicating her life to her husband, children, and her Lord Jesus Christ through service and devotion at Belmont Baptist Church. She was the last surviving charter member of Belmont Baptist Church. Dorothy taught Sunday School classes, served on many committees, and even delivered the children's sermon on occasion.

Dorothy had a long career in the retail grocery business, starting at Super Duper Foods and eventually retiring from United Supermarkets. Her upbeat personality and willingness to talk to all (she never met a stranger) made her a perfect ambassador for the companies she worked for. How she lived life became a template for her children and others to follow. Dorothy had a unique knack for being the family "glue" holding many things together. Planning family reunions, initiating memorable Christmas get-togethers (how many of us took turns in the Santa suit?), vacations, celebrations, and many other talents were just some of the things she excelled at, as the matriarch of the family.
Dorothy, mom, "Dot," "Memmie," - we will miss you, greatly. Thank you for your willingness to step up and be the mom God needed you to be. For those of us fortunate to be a part of your life, it was an honor to share time on this earth with you. We are better people because you walked this earth with God.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd R. Grimm, parents, Thurman and Gladys Allison, son-in-law Thomas (Tom) Walton and siblings; Thurman, Henry, Herschel, Bill and Loretta.

Dorothy is survived by sons Kenneth Grimm of San Angelo; Gary Grimm and wife Angela of Brock; daughter Sheri Walton of Clyde; and was a beloved "Memmie" to grandchildren - Allison and Jesse Hendricks, Trey and Courtney Walton, Andrew and Rebecca Walton, Emily and Romeo Garza, Alexandra Grimm; and great-grandchildren Bailey, Peyton, Bowen, Kendal, Benaiah, Zadkiel, Ezekiel, and Miriam. She is also survived by sisters Jerry Mashburn of Tye and Mary Capps of Breckenridge and many nieces and nephews.
