Dorothy Lane

Dorothy Virginia Lane, 73, passed away Friday October, 25, 2013 in Abilene. Visitation will be 57 PM, Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Wednesday, October 30, 2013 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born February 20, 1940 in Biloxi, MS to parents, Robert Vaughn and Ethel Fagan Lester. She spent most of her childhood in Austin, TX and after school moved to Abilene where she married Forrest Hayes Lane. Together they started a large family and she worked for Timex and Texas Instrument for several years. After Forrests passing she relocated to California to help her family manage an Answering Service for 15 years. She then returned to Abilene to be close to her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved to dance, shop, and watch her crime shows. Her best times were anytime she could have the entire family together, especially the holidays.
Dorothy is survived by six children, James Lane, Ricky Lane, Mary Lee, Robert Lane, Marti Lane, George Lane twelve grandchildren, Skip Gann, Danielle Chizmadia, Hannah Lee, Jenny Lane, Amanda Lane, Bobby Lane, Katie Lane, Lucas Lane, Braunwin Lane, Crystal Lane, Dustin Lane, Shelby Lane ten great grandchildren one sister, Judy Lester and several nieces, nephew, and cousins.
She was preceded by her husband, Forrest one daughter and her parents.
