Dorothy  Watson

June 22, 1943 — May 5, 2023

Dorothy May Watson, a beloved wife, mother, memaw, and friend, passed away on May 5th, 2023, at the age of 79. Visitation will be 5:00 PM -7:00 PM Monday, May 8, 2023, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Dorothy was born on June 22nd, 1943, in Abilene, Texas to Truman and Elma Foy. She married Cecil Lassiter in 1959 and they remained married until his death.
Dorothy loved to travel and explore new places, some of her favorite destinations included Galveston, Fredericksburg, Vegas, and taking cruises. She had a passion for gardening, sewing, crafting, and shopping, and spent many happy hours engaged in these activities. Dorothy worked at Walmart in the Fabric Department for many years and was a dedicated employee.
She was a devoted Jehovah Witness and took great comfort in her faith. Dorothy and John were friends for 18 years before they married on February 14th, 2004. They enjoyed a loving and happy marriage for 19 glorious years, filled with joy and companionship.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband, John Watson; her children, Steve Lassiter and wife Susan, Tammera Claybrook, Caroline Kahahawai and husband Charles, and Catherine Trapp and husband Scott, as well as 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her three brothers, Truman Foy, Pat Foy, and Britt Foy, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved her deeply.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cecil Lassiter; daughter, Denise Lathen, and brothers, Mike Foy and Don Foy.
Her kind heart, gentle nature, and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her. May her loved ones find solace in their cherished memories of her. Rest in peace, Dorothy.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Hendrick Hospice in her honor.
