Dorris Wayne Anderson, 78, passed away Wednesday, March 04, 2009 at a local Abilene hospital. Her funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2009, at the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. till 12 noon, Friday, March 6, 2009, at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Dorris was born November 13, 1930 in Munday, Texas to Coy and Lois Phillips. She married Ray Anderson on November 9, 1949 in Levelland, Texas. She worked in the home raising her three children and helping on the farms around Levelland. In later years, she lived in Weatherford, Texas, and then moved to Abilene. She enjoyed sewing, flower gardening, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; most of all, she enjoyed life. She was a member of Southern Hills Church of Christ, and a dedicated member of the Church of Christ throughout her life.
Dorris is survived by her husband, Ray Anderson of Abilene; one son Jerry Anderson and wife Deborah of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one daughter, Bette Anderson of Abilene; four grandchildren: Alison Martin and husband Shawn of Boise, Idaho, Julie Kilstoff and husband Varsa of Sydney, Australia, Quint Anderson and wife Gina of Weatherford, Texas, Travis Anderson of Pflugerville, Texas; and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert Phillips and wife Jane of Levelland, Texas; two sisters; Linda Robertson and husband Johnny of Princeton, Texas, and Glenda Webster and husband Mike of Corpus Christi, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronnie, in 2005; and a brother, Coy Jr. in 2007.
