Dorthy Farmer

January 24, 1934 — March 12, 2014

Dorthy was born January 24, 1934 in Dothan, Texas to parents Ralph and Ruby McClendon Butler. She graduated High School in Cisco and married James Leo Farmer the day after graduation. They moved to El Paso after Leo joined the US Army, where they began their family. They then moved to Abilene after Leo returned from his service in the Army. After another relocation to Clear Lake City, Texas, Dorothy worked for NASA, which was during the most exciting times of the space program. The family relocated to Del Rio, Texas and began Farmer Construction where they lived for 10 years before returning to Abilene.
She took Bible and Computer classes while attending Hardin Simmons University and Cisco College. Dorthy worked as a Teachers Aide in the AISD Head Start Program. She enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, spending time with her family, and was a very active member of Church on the Rock. She was a perfect and Godly mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Leo two daughters, Kellie Hutchinson and Vickie Lee Farmer granddaughter, Skipper Horn Rodriguez greatgranddaughter, Klassi Kay Horn grandson, James Whitney Young.
Survivors include daughter, Melody Horn and husband Larry of Alvin, Texas 4 grandchildren, Wayne Horn, Kassi Horn, Leighton Brister, and Candice Loya 8 greatgrandchildren, Hannah Horn, Tesa Horn, Cade Horn, K.K. Loya, Maddie Young, Leora Young, Haven Young, and Bit Young.
