Douglas, Eddie Powell was born February 23, 1946 to Eugene and Pearl Powell in Rotan, Texas.
He went to be with the Lord Friday, December 23, 2022 at Hendricks Medical Center.
Graveside services will be Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2 PM at Texas State Veterans Cemetery 7457 W Lake Rd, Abilene,Texas under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home.
Douglas excepted Christ at an early age. He was a faithful member of the Believing Faith Fellowship Church in Oceanside, California. He attended elementary and middle school in Rotan, Texas and he graduated from Oscar De Priest High School in Hamlin Texas.
Douglas served in the United States Army in the Medical Field for four years, during the Vietnam War.
Douglas was a professional Diesel Mechanic/Truck Owner, employed by Corley-Wetsel Freightliner until retirement.
He was united in marriage to Ella Mae Johnson, and was blessed with a son, Douglas Powell Jr.
Douglas was preceded to Glory by his father, Eugene Powell Sr., and mother, Pearl Ethel Powell, brothers, Eugene Jr., Stanley, Carl and Joe, four sisters, Sandra, Pearl, Cleopatra, Linda Kay, and Judy Patricia.
Douglas leaves to cherish his memory, his son Douglas Powell Jr., sisters, Billie Newsome, Bobby Black, a brother Donald Powell, grandson Douglas Powell III, three granddaughters Chante, Arinna and MaKayla. Two great grandchildren Jeremiah, and Jeriah. A host of niece, nephews and other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to The American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.
