Douglas Allen Wooten Sr., 53, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 in Abilene. Visitation will be Friday, January 14, 2011 from 6 till 8 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be at 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at New Beginnings UPC, 5535 Buffalo Gap Road, followed by Interment at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Doug was born January 13, 1957 in Revera, CA to Hardy and Mavis Wooten. After graduating High School, he joined the United States Air Force to honorably serve our country for 20 years. He met and married Judy Evans in 1979 while stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth. During their 31 years of marriage his military career took them to many places including Alaska, Sacramento, Omaha, and Abilene where he retired in 1995. While in the military he faithfully defended our country during Desert Storm. After retirement he began his second career at Abilene Aero as an Avionics Specialist.
He loved God, his family, the military, and his job. He was a hard worker and always gave his all in everything. He enjoyed attending church at New Beginnings UPC, and enjoyed playing golf at Maxwell Golf Course where he was a member and known as, Golf Daddy Wooten.
Doug is survived by his wife, Judy his daughter, Jackie Lee Horne and husband Michael of Lewisville his son, Douglas Allen Wooten Jr. and wife Kristen of Abilene one granddaughter who was, Papaws Little Angel, Aileigh Brenn Wooten one sister, Sheila Wooten Guest of Plano two brothers, Curtis Wooten of Plano and Mike Wooten of Allen one sister in law, Brenda Housewright of White Settlement and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents his inlaws, Webber and Donna Evans and one brotherinlaw, Rick Housewright.
