Dovie Culpepper

August 1, 1937 — February 21, 2013

Dovie Mae Culpepper, 75, humble servant of God, loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt and friend, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 in Abilene. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 28th at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 520 Stafford Dr with interment following in Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.

Dovie was born on August 1, 1937 in Rosebud, Texas the daughter of Tom Tutt and Lillie Mae King Tutt. She graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School and attended Gail Business College. She worked 10 years at Timex and more than 25 years for Crown Cork and Seal as well as succeeding in several business ventures of her own. She was a lifetime active member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Steven Woodard and wife Malinda of Dallas, Carlos Woodard of Abilene and Gustavious Culpepper of Las Vegas, Nevada 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her husband Gus Culpepper, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dovie are suggested to Mount Zion Baptist Church.
