Earnest Hopper

Earnest O "Boots" Hopper, 87 passed away Friday September 28, 2017. His funeral service will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 7, 2017 in the Elmwood Funeral Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.

He attended Kirkland High School before entering into the United States Army. He meet the love of his life Helga in Schweinfurt, Germany and was married on January 8, 1955. Even though they couldn't speak the same language in the beginning, it didn't stop them from falling in love. He attended first sergeants school in Louisiana and retired from the Army after 20 years of service. While in the military he earned several awards some of which include, 2 Bronze Stars, National Defense Medal, 2 Vietnam Service Medals, and the Valor Medal. He and his family moved to Abilene after retirement to be close to lifelong friends the Teague's. He provided for and loved his family. He will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Helga Hopper; his parents; and 6 brothers and sisters.

Survived by his son, Donald Hopper; his daughter, Tina Hopper; sister in law, Christl Semineth; and several nieces and nephews.
