Edward Bilger

Edward William Bilger, 94, Died Friday, March 13, 2009 at Hendricks Hospital after a short battle with cancer. His graveside service will be 2:00 PM, Monday, March 16, 2009 at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Sunday, March 16, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.

Edward was born in Clyde, TX on March 1, 1915 to William and Rosa Bilger. He married Frances Elizabeth Miller on January 21, 1939 in Abilene and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage before her passing. Edward worked at Radfords Grocery and later retired from Independent Wholesale Grocery after 49 years of employment. He enjoyed spending his time shopping at H.E.B Grocery store and playing with his dog, Boots and his two cats, Sunshine and Callie.

Edward is survived by two children; his daughter, Patricia Townsend Currie and husband Lyle, his son, Eddie Bilger and wife Carolyn; six grandchildren, Debra Valdez and husband Johnny, Kevin Bilger and wife Lisa and great-grandson Christian, Michael Rear and wife Susan, Mickey Rear and wife Karen, Misty Murrah and husband Scott, and Matthew Rear and wife Cindy.

Edward was preceded in death by his wife Frances Elizabeth Bilger.
