Elder Burnett

Elder Winston Lee Burnett passed away at home on Thursday, April 6, 2017. He was born January 18, 1936 to James Burnett and Mirthine Burnett (Sample) in Hubert, TX. On January 12, 1956 he married Mary Elizabeth Burnett in Abilene, TX.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Burnett, mother Mirthine Burnett (Sample); his father, James Burnett; sister, Barbra Sue Burnett; and two daughters, Joyce Anne Burnett and Deitra Renee Burnett.

Winston was the associate Pastor at Bethel Church of God in Christ, he loved his family and fishing. He retired as Excavators for 30+ years. Winston was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Winston Lee leaves to cherish his memories, five sons, Kenneth Lee Burnett of Austin, Texas, Larry Wayne Burnett of Fort Worth, Texas, Victor Burnett of Fort Worth Texas, Fredrick Glen Burnett of Denton, Texas and Clifton Jamal Burnett of Denton, Texas: five daughters, Shelia Mae Brazzell of Frisco, Texas, Belinda Ann Shavers of Denton, Texas, Sharon Ann Innman of Frisco, Texas, Benita Reed of Abilene, Texas, Iris Denise Campbell of San Antonio, Texas and one Goddaughter Katrina Mallard of Abilene, Texas; two brothers Lawrence Burnet and James Donald Burnett of Fort Worth, Texas ; two sisters, Patricia Burnett and Mirtha Knight of Fort Worth, Texas; thirty-one grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren.

A time of gathering for the wake will be held on Friday, April 21st from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79605.

The home going service will be held on Saturday, April 22nd at 12 p.m. at Pioneer Baptist Church, 701 S. Pioneer Dr, Abilene, TX 79605.

Burial will follow after the service located at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 Hwy 277 South, Abilene, TX 79605.
