Eleanor "Ruth" Pierce born October 13, 1930 in Abilene, Texas passed away peacefully with her family by her side in the early morning hours of May 4, 2016 at Lewisville Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her mother, Rae Gregory and her father Hernon Biggers; her husband, James Henry Pierce and her son, James Henry Pierce Jr.
She was a loving wife and a devoted mother to children James and Bill. Her commitment to family, loyalty to friends, kindness to others, and her unconditional love to all of her children and grandchildren were just a few characteristic that made this woman a true angel. She worked 20 years in the food service industry. The greatest joy that came in her later years was having the opportunity to be involved with the grandmother mentoring program. She not only loved helping children with special needs, she loved the people that she worked with. It gave her great pride and honor to be able to give back to the community. Ruth was very proud of her faith and believed in prayer above all else. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her son Bill, and her 3 granddaughters Lauren, Savannah, and Taylor.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 7, 2016 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South with a visitation preceding the service beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
