Elizabeth Nations went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on Monday evening, September 28, 2009. The angels took her hand and led her to her father after a long bout with the flu. Although her body was too weak to fight this virus, her mind was clear and her well-known sense of humor keen to the very end at the age of 96.
Friends of Elizabeth are welcome to attend the celebration of her beautiful life at noon on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South, with Vernon Davis and Jeff Reid, pastor of Pioneer Drive Baptist Chruch, officiating the service. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home.
Elizabeth came into this life on July 9, 1913 in Crandall, TX to Reason Alfred Jacobs and Lena Langston Jacobs. Elizabeth married William Nations on December 24, 1929 in Roscoe, TX. Together they raised two children, Billie Jean Strickland of Abilene and Dennis Rea Nations of Keller, TX.
She attended Roscoe High School where she played on the basketball team and was a cheerleader for the Roscoe Plowboys. Elizabeth flourished as a china painter as well as becoming a great seamstress. She worked as a beautician throughout Roscoe, Lubbock, and Abilene for more than 60 years. In addition, she loved her church family and attended regularly, becoming the inaugural member of the widows ministry at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
