Ellie Kirk

March 23, 1940 — August 16, 2017

Ellie Jo Grissom Kirk passed away on Wednesday August 16, 2017 at Hendrick Hospice Facility in Abilene, Texas. Graveside services will be held August 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM in Truby, Tx in the Kirk private cemetery. Elmwood Funeral Home will be providing burial services and Brother Jeff Fenwick will be conducting the graveside Eulogy.
Ellie was born March 23, 1940 to William Langley Grissom and Ina Earl Grissom of Cross Plains, Texas.

Ellie married Kenneth Daniel Kirk on November 4, 1956 and moved to Long Beach California where Kenneth served two years in the United States Navy. Ellie bore their first child, Katheryn LaNell in Long Beach.

After Kenneth served his two years they moved back to Truby, Tx where Ellie was a homemaker and bore three more children, Terry Dale, Cynthia Ann, and Jeffery Daniel. She spent the next ten years as a home maker. In 1973 Ellie opened a café in Anson, Texas called "Jody's Café" where she operated it for the next two years. After closing the café she took a job with a can manufacturing company called Crown Cork and Seal and spent the next 23 years there. She retired in 2002 and spent the remainder of her years in Truby.

Ellie is survived by her husband, Kenneth Daniel Kirk of Truby, Texas; and four children, Katheryn LaNell McGee of Anson, Texas, Terry Dale Kirk of Truby, Texas, Cynthia Ann Smart of Truby, Texas, and Jeffery Daniel Kirk of Evergreen, Colorado. Ellie was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

Ellie touched the lives of many people and will be missed by all. Some of her last words were "Don't forget me" and as we promised you, we will Never Forget You. We love and miss you and your name will be forever written on our hearts.
