Eloy Rodriguez, 33, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Hendrick Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 7:00 PM; Prayer Service with Rosary will begin at 7:00 PM on Wednesday in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 HWY 277 South. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2009 at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 5410 Buffalo Gap RD, with burial following in the Maldonado-Gonzales Family Cemetery near Nugent.
Eloy was born on April 13, 1975 in Clovis, New Mexico. He graduated from high school in Hobbs, New Mexico and attended Cisco Junior College where he received certification as an automotive technician. He met and became friends with Marie Anthony Rodela in 1995; they fell in love in 1998 and were married on December 27, 1999 in Abilene. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Eloy was a proud and loving father who was very involved in the lives of his children, attending their many sporting events and being a field trip Dad. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had an interest in guns and knives. He also enjoyed baking and sketching. Eloy was very proud of his Mexican heritage and spent much of his childhood visiting his grandparents in Mexico and traveling with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Anthony Rodriguez of Abilene; his children, Elysa Marie, Eloy Jr., Elias, and Elyza Marie Rodriguez all of Abilene; his mother, Virginia Mendoza Rodriguez of Odessa; his step-father, Albian Baza of Artesia, New Mexico; one brother, LeeRoy Rodriguez of New Mexico; one sister, Yvonne Rodriguez of Odessa; maternal grandparents, Papa Julio Mama Angela Mendoza; paternal grandmother Ama, Angela Venegas Rodriguez; mother-in-law, Antonia G. Rodela; father-in-law, Timmy Rodela and wife Robin; brothers-in-law, Thimothy James Rodela Jr and fianc, Kristy Yruegas, Joseph Bart Rodela and wife Isabel, and Raymond Francis Rodela all of Abilene; one sister-in-law, Rosa Lynn Rodela of San Angelo; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins whom he cared for, adored, helped raise and loved.
His father, Bruno V. Rodriguez, Grandfather, Apa Elias Rodriguez, cousin, Felix Valero, Jr., Tio, Ramon V. Rodriguez, and Tia, Olga Rodriguez Valero, preceded him in death.
