Elvin Roy Chew, 81, of Abilene Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior January 17, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Elvin Roy Chew was born on May 14, 1939 to L.R. and Virda (Clements) Chew in Blackwell, Texas. He graduated from Blackwell High School in 1957. He married the love of his life, Jane Gardner, in 1960.
He worked many years as a diesel mechanic and retired from B.J. Services. He was a devoted Christian and Deacon at Faith Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family,cooking, and making the most of life. He was a dedicated Husband, Father and Papa.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Gardner Chew; brothers, George Chew of Bronte, and Johnny Chew of Alvarado; sister, Helen Parker of Bronte; daughter, Debbie Cowart and husband Richard of Abilene; three grandchildren, Coy Chew of Abilene, Codi Clark and husband Patrick of Baird, Brittany Cowart and husband Justin of Abilene; and 11 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his son, Leroy Chew; parents, L.R. and Virda Chew, and two sisters, Jaunita Belfield, and Melba Shupe .
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South in Abilene Texas. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
