Emilio Flores Jr.

Emilio C. Flores Jr., 74, of Abilene passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 in Abilene.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 7, at 10:00 AM at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church, 2525 Westview Dr. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday at 6:00 PM with the Wake following at 7:00 PM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel.

Emilio was born on January 6, 1941 in Abilene, TX to the Emilio C. Flores Sr. and Sara Garcia Flores. He married Lucy Garza on October 2, 1961 in Abilene and they had 54 wonderful years together. Emilio owned and operated Texas Homes Roofing since 1960 until he retired. He worked hard but spent all of his free time with his family. Emilio loved all sports but especially baseball. He enjoyed watching the Texas Rangers play on television. He coached his son's baseball team "The Early Birds" having won 3 City Championships. Emilio stayed busy but above all else was a family man. He served as a member of the Cursillistas through St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio C. Flores Sr. and Sara Flores; a son, Michael Flores Sr., 2 sisters, Erlinda Santibanez and Angelina Valdez and 2 brothers Everardo Flores and Jack Flores.

Emilio is survived by his wife, Lucy Flores; children, Melinda Tolentino and husband Rudy of Abilene, David Flores and wife Toree of Abilene, Reyes "Jake" Flores of Abilene, Tom Flores of Grand Prairie; Daughter In-law, Angela Flores; grandchildren, Michael Tolentino and wife Anna, Emilio Tolentino, Alyssa Tolentino, DaNean Byram and husband Martin, Lucinda Flores, Elainna Myers and husband Brandon, Joshua Flores, Michael Flores Jr. and wife Aracely, Matthew Flores and wife Laura, Melinda Flores and husband Geraldo; 3 sisters, Erlinda Aldana, Amalia Carrion and Mary Gamez; 14 great grandchildren who loved their "Papa". He was a loving father, grandfather beyond compare and will be dearly missed by everyone he loved!
