Emily Harrell, 82, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Abilene. Her memorial service, with BJ McMichael officiating will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 2nd at Westgate Church of Christ, 402 S. Pioneer. Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 HWY 277 South.
Emily was born in Dallas on June 8, 1930 the daughter of JD Cauthen and Mae Belle Summers Cauthen. She graduated from Baird High School and attended Sul Ross State University where she met Joe M. Jake Harrell. They were married on December 24, 1950 in Baird. She was a supportive coachs wife for many years and also enjoyed working in various school systems. She loved gardening and yard work, traveling, volunteering and especially watching her grandsons play football. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Westgate Church of Christ.
Survivors include her children, Jay Tommy Harrell and wife Karen of Midland, Dixie Kellum and husband Dave of Humble, and Sam Harrell and wife Kathy of Ennis 8 grandchildren, Eric Harrell, Heather Zelenske, Megan Harrell, Ashley Wyckoff, Grant Sorrell, Zac, Graham, and Clark Harrell 11 great grandchildren, Ariel, Zachary, Andrea, Sarah, Gabriel, Tad, Nathan, Gunner, Charlee, Sydney and Lorelei and one greatgreat grandchild, Aubrey.
Her parents, her husband, a sister, Barbara Cauthen, a brother, Jimmy Cauthen, and her grandson, Justin Harrell preceded her in death.
