Emily West

Emily R. West, 83, of Abilene entered into rest on Monday January 5, 2015 in Abilene.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday January 8 at 11:00 AM at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday afternoon at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo.

Emily was born on August 3, 1931 in Muleshoe, TX to the late Albert Phillips and Mabel Grizzle Phillips. She married Jim West in 1968 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Emily and Jim had a great life together full of travel and adventure. Jim passed away in 1989. Emily continued her life as an entrepreneur owning many different types of businesses. She was a member of the Abilene Torah Group church, and loved birds and flowers, fishing and camping, and nature. She was a former member of Abilene Garden Club. Emily was preceded in death by her two sisters, Johnnie Guthrie and Lynnie Love, and Brothers Dean Phillips, Morris Phillips, Burrel Phillips, Maston Phillips, Paul Phillips, Leo Phillips, Kenneth Phillips.

Emily is survived by her son, Ken Houser and wife Joyce of Abilene; daughter, Deborah Meyer and husband Michael of Abilene; son, Stu Houser of Abilene; grandchildren, Travis Houser, Kari Kittur, Sid Kittur, Juli Farmer, Joe Farmer, Hannah Soenksen-Houser, Kara Soenksen-Houser; great grandchildren, Jayant Kittur, James Farmer, Jordyn Farmer, Jessica Helvie; brothers, Stanley Phillips and wife Cappie, William Phillips and many dear friends.

Emily will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
