Eric Hummel

Eric L Hummel, 41, passed away January 5, 2014 in Abilene. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday evening in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Eric was born on October 16, 1972 in Lorain, Ohio. He graduated from Brookside High School in Sheffield Lake, OH in 1991. Soon after high school he joined the United States Air Force. His Air Force career led him to many places including, Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany, Eglin Air Force Base in Florida, and Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene. After twentyone years of dedicated service to our country he retired in December of 2012. He loved spending time doing anything outdoors or involving animals, especially his snakes. He enjoyed woodworking, playing poker, and watching movies. He also spent time volunteering at Texas Oncology.
Eric is survived by his daughter, LeighAnn Hummel his son, Jayden Hummel mother, Linda Hayslip brother, Jason Hummel and wife Melissa niece, Rebecca Hummel nephew, Jacob Hummel special friends, David Renner, USAF, Alyssa Hitcho, and Rebecca Saverino several aunts, uncles, and cousins in Ohio, Michigan and South Carolina.
