Erma Lee Shelton 93 from Tye, Texas passed on to be with he heavenly father February 14, 2018 in Abilene, Texas with family by her side. Her husband Lee must have had a special Valentines planned for her in heaven. A funeral service will be 1:30PM Saturday February 17, 2018 in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Erma was born in winters Texas April 1, 1924 to Miles and Francis Tindle. She was one of 8 kids. The good lord broke the mold when he made her. Growing up in the cotton fields she learned how to survive. Her stories were some of the best you could hear. She never took no for answer and could always find away. She left us with such great memories and stories to tell. One of her first jobs was working on planes on Bruce Field Runnels county. She married the love of her life Lee Shelton in 1941 and had one daughter Peggy Bailey. Erma did hair for several years and had her own beauty shop out of her home in Tye, Texas. Erma and Lee also operated the Big Country club from 1967-1979. It was one of Taylor county biggest dance halls. Charlie pride, Willie Nelson, Billy Thompson, Eddie Burns, Ace Cannon, and Floyd Cramer are just a few of the artist that grace the doors. Erma and lee also ran cattle and raised horses on their beautiful ranch in Taylor county.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Billy Jeff, Curtis, Tommy and Travis; sisters, Mary Lou and Elsie
She leaves behind her daughter, Peggy Bailey and husband Bob, brother, David Tindle; grandchildren, Lisa Cedillo and husband David, Jamie Arrington and husband Cody; and great granddaughter, Jade Lee Arrington
