Born on March 18, 1935, in Cotulla, Texas, to Virginio Casas and Faustina Saldana. Esteban grew up with a strong sense of duty and family. He was drafted into the Army, serving one tour in Korea, where he proudly served his country. Upon returning home, he met the love of his life, Nicolasa Villarreal, in Mathis, Texas. The couple was united in marriage on April 29th, 1960. Enjoying 61 years of love, laughter, and companionship until Nicolasa’s passing in 2021.

Esteban and Nicolasa built a beautiful life together in Abilene, TX. Making Abilene their home. He was an exceptional provider for his family. He was blessed with a house full of women until he was blessed with a grandson. He opened his heart and home to many extended family members, offering a safe, loving refuge to all who needed it, and treating them as if they were his own. He was always there for his family, offering a listening ear and providing the best advice. He also gave his time supporting the grandchildren in their extra-curricular and sports activities. Whether they were in town or out of town he made it a point, alongside his wife, to attend.

Retiring from Greyhound after 25 years, Esteban filled his time with hobbies that brought him joy. He was an avid fisherman, a talented craftsman, gardener, and enjoyed his mornings with a cup of coffee working on his word search.

In his retirement years, Esteban dedicated much of his time to serving at St. Vincent Catholic Church, doing custodial and helping maintain the grounds. Giving selflessly, embodying the heart of a servant, and passing that love for the lord onto his family. He was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and community.

Esteban was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy of love, servitude, and devotion will live on through his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Virginio and Faustina Casas; his wife, Nicolasa Casas; and five siblings, Carlos Casas, Bertha Leal, Virgino Casas, Jr., Roel Casas, and Aurelia Casas.
