Ewell Wilburn, Jr.

Ewell Wilburn, Jr., 93, passed into the Lord's arms on November 3, 2018. Born to Ewell Wilburn, Sr. and Maude Moore Wilburn on May 21, 1925, he spent his life in Texas. A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be dearly missed.

Ewell was married to Wanda Long for 30 years. He was an active member of Broadview Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He graduated from San Angelo College and served in the Navy during WWII. Ewell worked for Cook Paint and Varnish Company until his retirement. For over 30 years, Ewell spent the month of July in Ruidoso. He loved golfing, reading, gazing at the mountains, and listening to the mountain rain. He passed that love of Ruidoso down to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ewell is survived by his wife Wanda; son, David Wilburn and his wife Brenda of Georgetown; daughter, Rhonda Lomax and her husband John of Buffalo Gap; daughter, Judy Hill and her husband Jack of Abilene; six grandchildren: Christi, Lori, Heather, Michael, Marcus, and Steve; and twelve great-grandchildren: Kayla, Kelsy, Trey, Kate, Macy, Walker, Wess, Wyatt, Mac, Jake, Madlynn, and Landon.
The family would like to thank the nurses, aides, and staff at Wisteria Place for their devotion to Ewell.
Daddy, we will miss you.

Visitation for family and friends will be held 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM, Friday, November 9, 2018 at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 S 27th Street. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park with United States Navy Honors.
