Florence was born to Abram and Mary Weber on July 30, 1930, in Tofield, Alberta, Canada. She was born two months early and quickly endeared herself to her family. Florence met Sidney Martin while attending Ontario Mennonite Bible Institute. They were married in Guernsey, Saskatchewan, on June 20, 1953. After graduation from the Bible institute, Florence and Sidney resided for a short time in St. Jacobs, until they responded to Gods call to Altoona, Pennsylvania. Florence served gladly alongside her husband as they ministered to the people of Mill Run Mennonite Church, and raised their four children. The next calling would be to Perryton, Texas. In 1973, Florence and Sidney moved to Abilene, Texas. Florence loved her church family at Elmcrest Baptist and served her Lord through the prayer ministry and the Internationals Sunday School class. Throughout Florences life, she utilized her creativity and resourcefulness through her special talents of sewing, housekeeping, and management, to enrich the lives of her family. Her ability to make friends with anyone and her thoughtful heart also enriched everyone around her. She volunteered for a time at the Rose Park Senior Citizen Center gift shop and remained an active member at the YMCA.
Mothers faith exuded in her joyful spirit as did her willingness to follow Gods direction. Left to follow Florences example are two sons Dale Marli Martin of Bethesda, Maryland, Duane Donna Martin of Abilene, Texas, two daughters, Elaine Charles Davis of Singapore, and Bonnie Blane Ladymon of Dallas, Texas two granddaughters, Allison Davis and Mindy Casy Blanton three grandsons, Stuart Martin, Ryan Martin, and Daniel Davis greatgrandson Silas Blanton. Brothers: Lloyd Weber and Norman Weber, and sister Fern Toman
Florence was preceded in death by her husband Sidney on June 30, 2008, ten days after celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by one grandson, Brice Martin Ladymon, her parents, and three sisters.
The family requests that memorials in memory of Florence be given to the Gideons or Elmcrest Baptist Church.
