Raymond Floyd Owens, 81, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, in Abilene, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2022. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, November 18, 2022, in the Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Interment will follow the service in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Floyd was born October 23, 1941, in Belton, Texas to Billie and Dorothy Owens. He graduated from Colorado City High School and attended business school in Abilene, Texas. After business school Floyd served in the United States Army, proudly serving his country for 4 years in Korea. Floyd maintained the military crew cut and attitude for the rest of his life. He worked for Warren Cat for 44 years and currently worked at Latson Parts for the past 15 years. Every weekend a farm chore list was provided for the Owens boys, and away they went. Floyd enjoyed sharing his love for farming by passing along his knowledge to his sons and grandson. Floyd was passionate about hunting, where he built a beautiful collection of animal mounts. His prize possession was the elk mount that proudly hangs in his living room. He was most known for his firm handshake and honest soul. Above all, he loved his family with all his heart. Floyd will be in our hearts forever.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents.
Floyd is survived by his two sons, Randy Owens and wife Pam. Rodney Owens and wife Debbie; His grandchildren, Riley Owens and wife Jo Lynn, Lauren Lowther, Kevin Giles, Kara Richardson, and Stephen Struve and wife Tana, David LaBrenz, Tasha Wright and husband Mark, Cassie Moore and husband Danny, Ryan LaBranz and wife Cynthia, Nikolas LaBranz and wife Gabie; His great grandchildren, EvaLynn Owens, Emilia Owens, Kooper Lowther, Avarie Myrick, Oaklin Giles, Briston Richardson, Allie Richardson, Paisley Struve, and Gracie Struve, Taylor Wright, Stetson Simmons, Justin Wright, Kyndle Wright, Slade Simmons, Hayden Wright, Hadlee Wright, Kaitlyn Moore, Hailey Moore, Madison Moore; Two sisters, Jennie Brown, and Darlene Carter; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
