Viola Frances Estes, 88, of Abilene, Texas, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021, in Abilene.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park, 5750 US HWY 277 S., Abilene, Texas.
Frances was born on March 31, 1933, in Leonard, Texas, to the late Hughie Minchey and Maggie Shaffer. She married Wilburn A. Estes on October 18, 1950, in Durant, Oklahoma. They were blessed with 53 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on September 27, 2004. She was a loving homemaker and worked for J.C. Penney for many years until her retirement. Frances adored her family more than anything. She also had a magical "green thumb" and appreciated the beauty of plants flowers, and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her; parents; husband; daughter, Sue Johnson; son-in-law, Paul Johnson; siblings, Charles Minchey, James Minchey, Lois May Sim, and Joseph Minchey.
Frances is survived by her children, Donna and husband Lou Schneider, Chuck Estes and wife Sharon, Scott Estes and wife Diana, and Peggy and husband Greg Mings; grandchildren, Joseph Hill and wife Malissa, James Hill and wife Jasmin, Tiffany and husband Col. Jason Kalin, Brandon Estes and wife Betsie, Courtney and husband T.J. Mosley, Mykle Estes, Emily Estes, Philip Goldsmith and wife Diana, Carrie Goldsmith, Norma Mings, John Wesley Roberts, Jennifer and husband Troy Tarin, Jeff Johnson; sister, Marilyn Sue and husband Billy Richardson; brother, Royce Ray Michey and wife Alene; and 17 great-grandchildren.
