Frances Mixson Kellum, 96, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday evening, April 6, 2013 at Abilene Regional Hospital. Funeral service will be 2 PM, Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Southside Baptist Church, 1425 South 7th St. Visitation will also be Thursday at Southside Baptist Church from 12 Noon till 2 PM prior to the service. Interment will be in Silverton, TX on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 11 AM. All services are under the direction of Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South.
Frances was born December 22, 1916, in Ranger Lake, NM. She moved to Bruceville, TX as a child and graduated valedictorian from Quannah High School. She married Allen N. Kellum August 15, 1933 in Quannah. They farmed near Silverton for many years while raising their family. She was active at First Baptist Church and a member of the Lone Star Home Demonstration Club. In later years, they moved to Lubbock to be near their daughter where they attended Bacon Heights Baptist. In 1998 she moved to Abilene and was active at South Side Baptist and Rose Park Senior Center. Frances was an avid gardener and loved to quilt. She was up to date on political affairs and actively supported the candidates of her choice, and kept up with family on facebook. She loved her family and particularly her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her one great great grandson. The past few years she has enjoyed living at Royal Estates where she has made many friends. A special thanks to Shay and Briann with Angels Home Health.
She is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter: Fred and Judith Kellum of Silsbee, Joe and Margie Kellum of Springtown, David and Denise Kellum of Plainview, and Leah and Gene Goodwin of Abilene. Survivors also include 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great grandson: Edward, Nakako, Emi Grace and Mika Frances Kellum of St James City, FL Suzanna, Jesse, and Emilia Valdez of San Antonio John Kellum of Irving, Carren, Anthony and Miranda Gibson of Allen, Christelle, Jared, and Rylan Kidd of Plano, Catherine and Tim Warthan and Logan and Joshua Davis of Ft Worth, Brittany Evans of Dallas, Kristen, Ian, Karley, and Kellen Knight of Trophy Club, Desley, Jennifer, Corban and Cy Kellum of Midland, Derek and Abbie Kellum of Hale Center, Dean, Brooke, and Mac Kellum of Plainview, DAnna and Colby Coleman of Plainview, and DNae Kellum of Plainview, and 1 sister, Grace Ratliff of Mansfield , and 1 sisterinlaw, Elnora Craig of Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen parents, Edward Carroll Mixson and Mary Lulu Eversmeier one infant great grandson, Christian Davis 1 brother, Beltram Mixson and 1 sister, Mary Eleanor Brown.
